Lesson and Evaluation Plans
Course: EAC 586 - Methods and Techniques in Training and Development
This narrative discusses a lesson plan and evaluation plan, with supplemental training materials. As a lead trainer and curriculum designer for the North Carolina Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NC EDSS) training program, I was aware that aspects of the training program needed improvement; however, real-world time and budget constraints prevented change from occurring. This course project allowed me to modify existing training materials, using best practices from the fields of adult education and training and development.
For the lesson plan, I provided background on the context of the training and described the training audience. I also outlined the training prerequisites, the length of the training, the training location and facility requirements, training methods and activities, and training content and information resources. Learning objectives were specified by type of learning (knowledge, skill, or attitude), and a performance-based training sequence was used to follow instructional events and active training qualities (introduce, understand, demonstrate, practice, and apply).
For the evaluation plan, I identified elements of the training to be evaluated (outcomes and processes), specified the conditions under which evaluation will occur, described the evaluation methods, provided sample instrumentation, and listed criteria to judge the effectiveness of the training. Moreover, evaluation results were analyzed results in relation to relevant training objectives.
